Canada GST/HST invoice requirements
The details a GST/HST invoice must show in Canada, which scale with the sale amount.
In Canada, the information a GST/HST invoice must include depends on the total sale amount (including tax). The thresholds were raised in 2021 to $100 and $500. The figures below are the amount including GST/HST.
- Under $100: the supplier (or intermediary) business name, the invoice date, and the total amount payable
- $100 to under $500: the above, plus the supplier's GST/HST registration number and the GST/HST amount (or a statement that tax is included and the applicable rate)
- $500 or more: the above, plus the buyer's name (or trading name), the terms of sale, and a description of the goods or services
